First off, this set is just so perfect to make winter cards that don't necessarily need to be holiday themed. You get 3 different large sized images of just the cutest pigs doing different outdoors winter activities! The set is also packed with a bunch of great sentiments which make it perfect for a slew of occasions.
For this project, I colored up the pig couple holding hands with Copic Markers, fussy cut them out and set them aside. I added a few gel pen accents as well just to make different articles of clothing pop! Now, if you ever struggled to find a good piggy pink blend like I have (the last time I colored up a pig, it looked very sunburnt... luckily it was a beach themed card so it was passable), I wanted to pass along the color combo I used for my pig blend: R30, R11, R32. It's funny, because I always associate the RV Copic with pink, however, this blend is entirely R's, and there are some really good less vibrant pink tones in the R color family! I also used a BG and BV palette for the rest of the pigs' clothing items.
For my background, I took a piece of white blending cardstock and die cut it with a wonky stitched rectangle die. I blended the panel with a light blue ink, and then went in to distress the edges with a slightly darker blue green ink. Using the Swirlys stencil, I place it over the panel and blended over it using the same blue green ink. I matted this panel to a peacock scalloped rectangle die cut, which I then adhered to an A2-sized piece of purple cardstock, to really help tie all the colors in together.
I used my paper trimmer to cut 2 banners (cutting the ends with my scissors), one I blended in purple ink with the Swirlys stencil, the other in light blue ink with the Swirlys stencil. I matted each banner in its corresponding color and adhered them to the card.
Next, I die cut a large heart from white blending cardstock and distressed the edges with a darker Blue Violet ink. I adhered my pig couple directly to the heart, and then covered the back of the piece with foam tape. I figured where I would adhere the heart piece, removed it, stamped the sentiment "You warm my heart" from Just Chillin in that same darker Blue Violet ink, and then removed the backing from my heart piece's foam tape to adhere it to the card.
I finished the card off by adhering a few sequin embellishments and adhering the entire panel to an A2-sized card base. And that's how I put this card together!
If you haven't made your way over to the store yet, be sure to to check out the new Just Chillin set, the Swirlys stencil, and all of the other great items in the November release (For me, personally, I have at least one image that I absolutely need from every set this release, especially the new Sassy Guy from Sassy Girls- Naughty).
