Using your stamps in a different way!

You have seen our cards featuring Spring Friends Stamp set:

and you've seen our cards featuring Plushie Summer Piggies:

But do you know that you can transform these cute little images into something entirely different? I am going to show you how to transform the sweet little bird from Spring Friends, and the party piggie from Summer Piggies into an Angry Bird themed birthday card!

I'll show you exactly how I made it!
First I Cut cardstock to 8.5” x 12”.
I scored it on the long side at 2.75”, 5.5”, 8.25”, and 11”.

Next Cut off a 2”x12” strip from the edge, and set it aside.

Turn the 6.5” x 12” panel, and score at 2.75.

Cut down 2.75” on each of the 4 score lines.

Cut the edge of the smallest part of cardstock to remove the excess above the scoreline.

Cut two strips from red cardstock, and two from transparency sheet both measuring 1”x 4.75” and scored 1" from outer edges on both ends.

Set aside
Create patterned paper for decoration. Take yellow cardstock, Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink, and Awesome Stars Stencil to create star paper.

Next Cut  2.5”x6.25” panel from white cardstock and use cloud stencil and Broken China Distress Oxide Ink to create cloud pattern.

Next Cut patterned paper to decorate each panel, as follows:
3 lower panels (blue stripe) – 2.5”x3.5”
3 underneath sides (outside blue stripe)
3 upper panels (inside yellow star) – 2.5” square

Center and adhere each panel as shown.

Apply adhesive to the end tabs of the 1”x4.75” strips, and adhere them to the inside of the box. Red tabs at the bottom and clear tabs at the top.

I stamped the little bird from Spring Friends stamp set, and the tropical drink pig from Plushie Summer Piggies on to white cardstock.

I colored with Copics and cut out just the heads of each character. I colored a tan chest for the red bird, drew a wide "V" for eyebrows on the bird, and colored the brim of the pig's hat to look like an ear.

Red Bird: E42, E43, R46, R35, R59, Y17
Blue Bird: B23, B24, B28, Y17
Pig: Y17, YR16, YG06, YG17, G07

I used brown Copics (E99, E37) to color on white cardstock to create a wood grain pattern and then I cut out blocks and decorated my card as shown. I think they turned out looking quite a bit like Angry Birds! It's great when you can stretch your stamps to include using them in a completely unexpected way!

I hope this inspires you to think outside the box and see how you can stretch your stamps! Be sure to show us what you create because we want to be inspired by you too!
