Summer is here and the ocean is calling. This new "Salty but Sweet" stamp set is totally done adulting and ready for the ocean! It's so easy to make such a fun background using the "Under the Sea" digital background. Here's a quick step-by-step of coloring these fun digital backgrounds.
Step 1. Although I love the look of Copics, I wanted to keep the larger open space easy to color. I combined three Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon. Mainly filling in the center with the two lighter colors, and the Mermaid Lagoon on the outside for shadowing.
Step 2. I colored in all the green leaves and some of the coral. The green leaves were G19 and the purple coral was BV17, BV04 & BV13.
Step 3. I colored in the rest of the images.
- Fishes: Y06 and B16
- Submarine: N6, N4, N2 & B00
Coral: BG49 & YR16
Shell: E17 & YR02
Rocks: N4 & N2
Once the background was done I used a new slimline die to trim it out. Because some of the sides were trimmed off with the die, I went back in with Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink and brought back those shadows on the side of the background.
I colored and added the beautiful mermaid and fun crab king onto the background and used the fun sentiment all from the Salty but Sweet stamp set.
I used foam tape behind the background and thin foam squares behind both images. I layered the background on a scalloped solid paper and then adhered it all to a slimline card.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial. Remember that many of these images can be mixed and matched with previous releases making them so much more versatile.
