Birds of a Feather . . .

Posted by Amy Purdie on

If you have tuned in to our Facebook Inspiration group then you know I have been Sneaking Peeks at our NEW AUGUST RELEASE coming July 31st! One of the stamps I have been showing off is our new "Cool Chicks" stamp set. It's a tropical dream complete with birds, leaves, flowers, and a flamingo!

I made quite a few cards featuring that big tropical leaf, but I thought it might be fun to color it to look like a feather!
I stamped my pattern using Memento black ink and then colored my feathers in with Prismacolor Pencils.

In order to get that feather look you are going to want to color in your feather with lighter colors and then take your darkest color to create lines coming out from the center at an angle as shown here.

I used Prisma colored pencils in:
(from lightest to darkest color)
Teal: PC992, PC1006, PC105
Turquoise: PC919, PC103, PC933
Purple: PC934, PC995

Then I added white lines and outlines to each feather using a white gel pen.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a Crafty Saturday!

Have a Sassy & Crafty Day!
